All eyes are on Earl Sweatshirt as he gears up for the August 20 release of his highly-anticipated album Doris . On the Pharrell-produced “Burgundy” featuring Vince Staples, the Odd Future rapper addresses fame (“So don’t tell me that I made it, only relatively famous”) and his father.
“I’m afraid I’m gonna blow it/ When them expectations rising because daddy was a poet,” raps the 19-year-old in reference to South African poet Keorapetse Kgositsile.
Doris is already receiving praise from critics including the Los Angeles Times , who proclaimed it as “one of the best albums of the year.”
