Future and Iggy Azalea Score Top 3 Debuts

Future and Iggy Azalea

It was a close call on the charts this week as Future and Iggy Azalea battled it out for the No. 2 spot.

The Atlanta rapper’s sophomore album Honest squeaks into second place on the Billboard 200, selling 53,000 copies in its first week. He earns his best sales week and highest-charting album yet following his 2012 debut Pluto, which entered at No. 8 (41,000).

Not far behind is Aussie rap sensation Iggy Azalea, who works her way into the No. 3 spot with her debut The New Classic. Led by the Charli XCX-assisted hit “Fancy,” the album was just shy of 1,000 copies away from Future with 52,000.

The New Classic is the highest-charting rap album from a woman on the Billboard 200 since Nicki Minaj’s Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded debuted at No. 1 in April 2012.

Last week, industry pundits predicted that Iggy would outsell Future, but Future moved more physical units.

However, both were no match for Disney’s Frozen, which once again ruled the Billboard 200 with an additional 115,000 copies.
