It’s that time of the year again. XXL magazine has unveiled the 12 artists that make up their 2014 Freshman Class.
This year’s list, dubbed “The Dirty Dozen,” includes Chicago natives Chance the Rapper, Lil Durk, Lil Bibby, and Vic Mensa, TDE’s Isaiah Rashad, and Atlanta’s Rich Homie Quan and Jarren Benton.
Chance the Rapper saluted his fellow MCs, tweeting, “4 southside Chicago kids on the cover of @XXL.”
For the first time, the list also includes R&B hitmakers Ty Dolla $ign and August Alsina.
“Ayeeeeeeee!!! #XXL cover 1st singing nigxa on that btch!” tweeted the Testimony crooner.
Past XXL Freshmen have included J. Cole, Wiz Khalifa, Kid Cudi, Big Sean, Macklemore, French Montana, Lupe Fiasco, Lil Boosie, and Iggy Azalea.
