John Legend brought his smooth sound to Nashville for the 2014 CMT Music Awards. The R&B crooner put a country spin on his No. 1 ballad “All of Me” with some help from Jennifer Nettles and Hunter Hayes, who wrote a guitar arrangement of the song specifically for the show.
Legend’s wife Chrissy Teigen wasn’t in attendance, but he did serenade the star-studded crowd including Nicole Kidman, Keith Urban, Carrie Underwood, and Lionel Richie.
“It’s such a beautifully crafted, well-written song,” said Nettles. “It combines both beautiful imagery and, at the same time, has wonderful conversational moments, too.”
The song has become the highest-selling and charting single of Legend’s career, with sales over 3 million in the U.S.
The G.O.O.D. Music singer has announced additional dates for his “All of Me” tour. The summer trek kicks off July 17 in Highland, Calif., and wraps August 26 in Morrison, Co.
