Pharrell Williams Sings in the Rain on ‘Today’ Concert Series

Pharrell Williams

Two days after rocking the Apollo Theater for American Express UNSTAGED, Pharrell Williams brought some sunshine to Rockefeller Plaza for the Toyota Summer Concert Series. Despite the stormy weather, the seven-time Grammy winner performed his upbeat hits including “Come Get It Bae” and “Happy” with some help from his female dancers, the Baes.

“It’s an amazing feeling,” Pharrell said of his success. “I never expected any of this. I’m surrounded by amazing talent.”

He will join “The Voice” as a coach next season. “My wife has always been obsessed with [the show], so we always watch it,” he said. “I never imagined being up there, either. All of this is a great surprise. It’s just awesome.”

He also shared his obsession with late scientist Carl Sagan, whose photo he requested in his dressing room.

“I watched ‘Cosmos’ as a child and I was always blown away by [Sagan's] mind and the way he thought,” said Pharrell. “When I look at that picture I realize how lucky we all are … to be on this planet and be able to do what we love to do every day. Seeing Carl’s face reminds me of it.”
