Common puts on for his city in the dark and powerful video for “Kingdom,” the first single off his upcoming 10th album Nobody’s Smiling. The Hype Williams-directed clip was shot throughout Chicago and features XXL Freshman Vince Staples.
Executive produced by No I.D., the follow-up to 2011′s The Dreamer/The Believer is set to arrive on July 22.
The concept-driven project was inspired by the tragedies in Chicago. “We came up with this concept Nobody Smiling [and it] was really a thought that came about because of all the violence that was going on in Chicago,” said Common.
