A$AP Rocky Tours with Rihanna, Recalls First Rap in ‘SVDDXNLY’ Documentary

A$AP Rocky

From Harlem to Hollywood, A$AP Rocky chronicles his rise to becoming one of hip-hop’s brightest stars in his feature-length documentary SVDDXNLY, produced and directed by Noisey.

In Part 1 of the five-episode series, the “Fashion Killa” prepares for his opening slot on Rihanna’s “Diamonds World Tour.”

The leader of the A$AP Mob recalls his first freestyle at the age of eight, where he rapped about his sister Asia, smoking weed, and oral sex.

His family knew early on that he was destined to be a star. His mother, a hip-hop lover, named her son after rap pioneer Rakim, and his sister described her brother as a “go-getter.”

Rihanna also makes a cameo backstage at his Hollywood Palladium show. “Everybody out there was hype as shit,” she says of the crowd. “I want my crowd to look like that before I get on the stage.”

Watch Rocky on the road to stardom.
