Chance the Rapper Brings Out R. Kelly at Lollapalooza

Chance the Rapper and R. Kelly

After a weekend of performances from Eminem, Nas, and Iggy Azalea, Chance the Rapper closed out Lollapalooza on Sunday night. Despite the wet weather, fans piled into Chicago’s Grant Park to watch the 21-year-old MC thrill his hometown crowd during his much-anticipated set, which was streamed live. He hit the stage around 8:30 p.m., attracting one of the largest audiences of the weekend.

“Tonight isn’t performing for performance’s sake. It’s a Chicago thing. I love music and touring. But tonight it’s for Chicago,” he tweeted earlier in the day.

In addition to performing his remake of the “Arthur” theme song and Acid Rap tracks “Chain Smoker” and “Everything’s Good,” he taught the audience how to do the juke slide and brought out Vic Mensa for “Cocoa Butter Kisses.” But the most-talked-about moment of the night was when Chicago’s own R. Kelly joined him onstage.

With Chance by his side, Kellz served up his classics including “The World’s Greatest,” “Bump n’ Grind,” and “Ignition (Remix),” and guested on Chance’s “Acid Rain,” much to the delight of the Chicago rapper.

Watch Chance own the night.
