K-Dot is coming. As Kendrick Lamar gears up for the release of his sophomore album, details are emerging about the first single.
Interscope Records and Clear Channel hosted a private dinner for radio personalities last week, where the title was reportedly revealed. According to WatchLOUD, the song is called “I (Love Myself),” while HipHop-N-More claims it’s just called “I.”
It is slated to hit radio on Tuesday, September 23. The title and release date were posted on an Interscope website, but later removed.

Sources tell Rap-Up.com that the song features an Isley Brothers’ sample. Kendrick has been vocal about his love for the R&B group.
“There’s some music I’ve been listening to that I haven’t really been talking about,” he told Flaunt magazine last year. “I haven’t been listening to any rap for the last six months. I bought the whole Isley Brothers collection.”
Big singles coming out of Interscope in the next few weeks, as their promo site just revealed: Fergie Monday, Kendrick Tuesday, Gwen 10/6.

Kendrick’s sophomore album is due this fall featuring production from Dr. Dre and TDE’s in-house producers Digi+Phonics.
“There was a lot left out of good kid—it could have been a 30-track album,” he told Rolling Stone of the follow-up to his 2012 debut. “There are a few new [songs] that can tie in with what I was talking about.”
