Video: August Alsina – ‘Grindin”

August Alsina

Six weeks after collapsing on stage during his show at New York City’s Irving Plaza, August Alsina gets back to business. The New Orleans crooner, who was hospitalized for exhaustion, dehydration, and seizures, spent three days in a coma and was forced to cancel the remaining dates on his “Testimony Live” tour.

But the hustle continues. On his first new song on six months, which was inspired by Lil Wayne’s “Grindin’,” he address the rumors, haters, and his now famous fall.

“A lot of these lames kept hatin’ on a ni**a / When I took a little fall you was steppin on a ni**a,” he sings on the Knucklehead-produced track.

He continues, “I just got of out of a coma / It showed me that when God is for me, no weapon can hold me / That’s why I go hard for N.O. and my homies, and I pay homage to ni**as before me.”

August will perform for his largest audience yet when he joins Usher on his “UR Experience” tour beginning November 1 in Montreal.

Watch him confront his critics and put on for his city in the dark and haunting video.
