Hot on the heels of his surprise announcement, J. Cole has revealed the tracklisting for his third album 2014 Forest Hills Drive. The follow-up to 2012′s Born Sinner features 13 tracks including “January 28th” (his birthday), “A Tale of 2 Citiez,” and “No Role Modelz.”
The title is the address of the childhood home that he grew up in Fayetteville, North Carolina. He purchased the three-bedroom, two-bath property in June of this year for $121,000.
Cole doesn’t plan on releasing any singles in advance of the December 9 release date. But he surprised one lucky fan by showing up at her house in Dallas earlier this month and playing it for her before the rest of the world. He also plans to host two listening sessions for neighbors this weekend.
2014 Forest Hills Drive, which is now available for pre-order on iTunes, marks a return to his roots. “That’s what buying this house represented for me,” he told Complex. “It was validation, it was vindication for them foreclosing this place [on] my mom, and it was also a symbol for me like I know what’s important. You can’t run from home.”
