TLC, Nelly Join New Kids on the Block for ‘The Main Event’ Tour

TLC is bringing the nostalgia to a city near you this summer. The duo will join New Kids on the Block and Nelly for “The Main Event” tour.

Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas and Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins appeared alongside New Kids band members Donnie Wahlberg, Jordan and Jonathan Knight, Joey McIntyre, and Danny Wood to make the announcement live on “Good Morning America” on Tuesday (Jan. 20).

“It’s going to be one big, huge, massive party,” said McIntyre. “That’s a lot of hit records in one night. I’m excited.”

The groups met when they shared the bill at 2013’s Mixtape Festival in Hershey, Penn. “We all fell in love at that time and that’s when the ideas started to brew,” said Chilli. “When our manager called us, we were like, ‘Hell yeah.’ I think it’s a perfect combination.”

The 47-date trek, which will feature a rotating stage and hits from all three acts, kicks off May 1 in Las Vegas.

T-Boz and Chilli have also launched a Kickstarter campaign to fund their fifth and final album. New Kids’ Donnie Wahlberg pledged $10,000 live on “GMA.”

“I’m pledging $10,000 right now. It’s going in. We’re in,” he said, adding, “But you have to do a duet with us.”

Tickets go on sale Jan. 31 with a pre-sale starting Jan. 22 for fan club members.
