Video: FKA twigs – ‘Pendulum’

FKA twigs gets all tied up in the avant-garde video for “Pendulum” off her critically-acclaimed debut LP1. In the self-directed clip, the British singer swings from her own hair and later dances in a CGI sea.

The former ballet dancer will play Coachella in April and can be seen on the cover of V Magazine‘s “New Sound of Soul” issue alongside Tinashe, Sam Smith, and Jessie Ware.

In the interview, FKA twigs denounces the “alternative R&B” label that has been placed on her.

“‘Alternative R&B’ is patronizing to R&B,” she says. “R&B is R&B—it doesn’t need an alternative. There are plenty of artists now experimenting with electronic music, manipulating sounds. We can make a train into a synth. We can make drips into hi-hats. I can record sounds on my phone and make a song out of a city. I don’t know what that has to do with R&B.”

Watch her break out of the box in the mesmerizing visuals.
