MSNBC’s ‘Morning Joe’ Hosts Blame Rap For SAE Controversy (VIDEO)

On an episode of MSNBC's Morning Joe, hosts discussed Waka Flocka Flame's response to the video of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity members and bashed rap for normalizing the use of the word.

Host Mika Brzezinksi slammed Flocka for saying he was shocked and appalled after watching the SAE members chant the racist rhyme "There will never be a n—-r in SAE/You can hang them from a tree/But they'll never sign with me."  She says that he shouldn't be disturbed because he uses it all the time in his music.

"He shouldn't be disgusted with them. He should be disgusted with himself," Brzezinski said after calling Waka's music "a bunch of garbage."

As fellow hosts Joe Scarborough and guest host Bill Kristol chimed in about how corporations make major bucks off of rap and that a lot of hip-hop listeners are white and now use it because it is said frequently, host Willie Giest made a point that the racial chant and rap are not comparable.

"I would love to never hear that word again in a song white, black or otherwise but there is a distinction between a bunch of white kids chanting about hanging someone from a tree and using that word in a hateful way," Giest said.
