Taraji P. Henson Recieves Emmy Nomination For “Empire” Role

(AllHipHop News) Taraji P. Henson already had a "Best Supporting Actress" Oscar nomination under her belt for her portrayal of Queenie in the 2008 film The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. The 44-year-old actress can now add Emmy nom for "Best Actress In A Drama Series" to her resumé.

The 2015 Emmy Award nominations were announced, and Henson was recognized for her role as Cookie on the hit Fox series Empire. She was joined by Claire Danes (Homeland), Viola Davis, (How to Get Away With Murder), Tatania Maslany (Orphan Black) Elisabeth Moss (Mad Men), and Robin Wright (House of Cards).

Henson was the only Empire cast member to receive a nomination. Season one of the show also starred Terrence Howard, Jussie Smollett, Bryshere Y. Gray, Trai Byers, Malik Yoba, Grace Gealey, and Gabourey Sidibe.

Cookie has already earned Henson a BET Award and a Critics' Choice Television Award. She was previously nominated for the "Outstanding Lead Actress In A Miniseries Or A Movie" Emmy for her turn in 2011's Taken from Me: The Tiffany Rubin Story.
