Justin Timberlake made his big return onstage at Sunday’s Grammys. Following his performance, he continued his comeback tour with an intimate gig at the Hollywood Palladium. The sold-out show was the hottest ticket in town, drawing celebrities including Beyoncé, Kelly Rowland, and his wife Jessica Biel.
Dressed in a black tuxedo, J.T. kicked off his 90-minute set with his debut single “Like I Love You,” backed by his 12-piece band “JT & the Tennessee Kids.” He played familiar hits such as “My Love” and “Rock Your Body,” and remixed “Cry Me a River” with “Bandz a Make Her Dance” and “Ni**as in Paris.”
“I just want to take the opportunity to thank all of you for coming out tonight,” he told the crowd. “I must confess, it’s been awhile. And for that, I apologize. It’s going to be a fun year. I hope to see all of your drunk faces when I come back on tour at the Staples Center.”
He showcased two new songs off his upcoming album The 20/20 Experience including “Pusher Love Girl” and “That Girl,” and covered INXS’ “What You Need.” One of the highlights was his funky take on The Jacksons’ “Shake Your Body (Down to the Ground),” complete with pelvic thrusts that made the mostly-female audience swoon.
And of course, he once again brought out Jay-Z for “Suit & Tie” before closing with “SexyBack,” for which he was joined by Timbaland.
Before leaving the stage, he delivered a special message to his fans. “I love each and every one of you,” said the 32-year-old singer. “Don’t let that stupid fucking media tell you any different.”
