Lecrae Performs ‘Dirty Water’ for ’16 Bars’

Lecrae

Lecrae has been grinding for 10 years, but it wasn’t until September that he scored his first No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with his seventh album Anomaly. Riding high off its success, the Houston rapper hit the stage to perform one of his new cuts, “Dirty Water,” for Honda’s “16 Bars” series. With just one mic and an empty room, Lecrae flexed his lyrical skills.

“I stay lyrically fit by hanging out with dudes like my man Propaganda, my man Swoope,” explained Lecrae. “These are incredible artists who challenge me lyrically, so I always try to make sure I can put them on a project ’cause I know they gon’ make me up my game. It’s a healthy competition.”

The 35-year-old was first introduced to rap while in elementary school. His mother worked at a correctional facility and one of the men in the program gave him a mixtape.

“I listened to it, and I had never heard anything like that,” he said. “My mind blew up, so I made sure I memorized every song I heard on there and went back to school and rapped it for everybody, and I was the man.”

Watch Lecrae blow your mind with his bars.
