After 24 years in jail, a New York City man seeks justice after a botched investigation.
Derrick Deacon filed the suit after he was acquitted for murder in 2013. It took a jury 9 minutes to release him.
In 1989, Deacon was found guilty of murder for the shooting a teenager in a robbery that occurred in Brooklyn.
One "witness" recanted and an FBI informant fingered another person as the killer.
Deacon made the filing last week, which his lawyer calls "gross misconduct" by NYPD investigators.
Now, he has two separate lawsuits – one for $25 million and another for unspecified damages.
