Beyoncé and Blue Ivy Dress as Janet and Michael Jackson for Halloween

Beyoncé

Beyoncé took it back to 1989 and paid homage to Janet Jackson with her Halloween costume. The pop superstar rocked the outfit from Janet’s Rhythm Nation 1814 era, complete with a key earring, black gloves, jacket, and hat. She was spotted backstage with Angela Yee’s nephew (pictured) at Powerhouse while Jay Z made a surprise appearance.

Her newfound sound, which she describes as “rule-breaking” and “pioneering,” was inspired by her current favorite artist Erykah Badu.

My lyrics are probably what’s gonna be packing the most punch, and my tracks are in the background just coolin’ it, like, ‘Hear what she just said?’”

Rap-Up TV: T.I. Talks Iggy Azalea vs. Nicki Minaj, Hustle Gang Tour

T.I. has an ear for talent. The Hustle Gang chief, who signed B.o.B and Travi$ Scott, knew he was onto something big when he discovered a blonde Australian rapper named Iggy Azalea. Since then, Iggy has taken over the charts and become a global sensation, but Tip always saw it coming.

“As soon as I seen her, I seen it,” he told Rap-Up TV of his “Fancy” protégée.

He offers her advice, but she doesn’t always take it. “She has an incredible vision for herself,” said Tip. “She sees things that none of us can see. At the end of the day, the final say will lie in what Iggy Azalea feels is appropriate for her legacy.”

While she has experienced some bumps along the way, T.I. has been impressed with the way she’s been dealing with her newfound fame. “All in all, I think she’s handling herself like a G just simply because she’s not jumping off the Empire State Building,” he said. “With the amount of pressure being put on her, the amount of demands, and all the different directions she’s being pulled so many times a day, I think she’s handling herself very well and staying grounded and true to who she is.”

She’s been pitted against Nicki Minaj, but Tip says there’s no real beef, and even left the door open to a collaboration.

“That is something that me and Lil Wayne, we maybe could broker,” he said. “If Nicki agrees to it, I would definitely massage the ears of my young Azalean. She never had a real problem with Nicki. I think it’s just a female competition thing. And I don’t even think Nicki really, really has a problem with Iggy. I think they’re both like, ‘There’s only enough room for one bad bitch at a time.’ I think it’s more that than someone genuinely not liking someone else.”

While he works on bringing the ladies together, he is also trying to put together a Hustle Gang tour. “I’m trying to work on a B.o.B, T.I., Iggy Azalea, Travi$ Scott—I’m trying to do a Hustle Gang tour,” he said. “It’s very ambitious. We’ll see.”

Dawn Richard Announces ‘Blackheart’ Album, Debuts ‘Blow’ Video

Blackheart

The Black Era begins. In the wake of Danity Kane’s breakup and final album DK3 , Dawn Richard is spreading her wings and flying solo once again. The singer has announced plans to release Blackheart on January 15.

The album, the second in her Heart trilogy, arrives two years after her 2012 solo debut Goldenheart.

“With the help of my long time creative/business partner, Kyle Cabrol, I was able to create something we are proud of,” said Dawn. “This project is very special to me. We set out to redefine the term ‘independent’ and really push the limits on what could be done. We are just two people but we act as a label that has an entire staff. Both of us are extremely excited to share this art with the hearts.”

Dawn has been writing and producing alongside Noisecastle III, and has crafted a sound inspired by trip-hop, electro-pop, and soul. “This album is the most experimental album of my career as well as my biggest risk taker,” she said.

She showcases her new look and sound in the dance-heavy video for “Blow.” “‘Blow’ speaks about the ferocity of the heart movement,” explained Dawn. “In a time where numbers and stats matter, we simply don’t give a f**k if you like us. We are here. We are strong and we are beautifully imperfect. This visual and record was a perfect way to say…The hearts are still here.”

“A lot of these lames kept hatin’ on a ni**a / When I took a little fall you was steppin on a ni**a,” he sings on the Knucklehead-produced track.

He continues, “I just got of out of a coma / It showed me that when God is for me, no weapon can hold me / That’s why I go hard for N.O. and my homies, and I pay homage to ni**as before me.”

August will perform for his largest audience yet when he joins Usher on his “UR Experience” tour beginning November 1 in Montreal.

Lil Wayne Delays ‘Tha Carter V’ to December, Drops New Single ‘Gotti’

Lil Wayne

Lil Wayne was supposed to release his album Tha Carter V on Tuesday, but it has been pushed back. The Young Money rapper issued a PSA explaining the delay and announcing a new date.

“We had to push the album back due to a problem,” said Weezy while holding his skateboard. “That problem being, honestly, I just been skating too damn much, man. I been skating too much and I just totally forget about the motherfu**in’ Carter.”

But all jokes aside, he’s been locked in the studio recording the fifth installment in Tha Carter series. “Honestly, I been working hard every motherfu**in’ day on this album and this album means a whole lot to me. I know the real fans out there, it means a whole lot to them too, so I kinda refuse to cheat them and give them anything rushed.”

He recorded so many tracks that he had to find a way to get them all out. He flashed a tentative tracklisting that included 30 songs.

“I got way too much to just give ya’ll half of it,” he said. “If I would’ve dropped the album today, it would have to be 12 or 13 songs. I refuse to do it. I refuse to cheat my fans. I refuse to cheat myself.”

In order to give his fans more music, he has decided to split Tha Carter V into parts, the first dropping December 9.

Along with the announcement, he premiered a new single called “Gotti” featuring The Lox. Listen to Weezy’s song and PSA below.

Juvenile Signs Back to Cash Money

Juvenile

Juvenile is going back to where it all started. The New Orleans rapper has resigned with Cash Money Records.

Juve made the announcement in an interview with MTV News. “It’s already done. I signed the paperwork a couple days ago. I’m signed back,” he revealed. “Rich Gang, I’m getting ready to get my little tattoo and everything. It’s all love, man. I’m back.”

This comes as a surprise based on Juve and Cash Money’s rocky past. Juvenile, who used to be in the Hot Boys with Lil Wayne, left the label in 2003, claiming he was not properly compensated.

But both parties have put aside their differences. “Even though we been through what we’ve been through, we older now ’cause we was younger then,” said Birdman. “We grown. We always spoke. Wayne did music with him [2012's "Picture Perfect"], but we spoke and I just wanted to feel if the time was right we could do it.”

Juvenile released five albums on Cash Money since 1997′s Soulja Rags and scored hits with 1999′s “Back That Azz Up” and 2004′s “Slow Motion,” which went to No. 1 on the Hot 100.

Birdman sees the potential for success once again. He’s already put Juve in the studio with London On Da Track, who produced Rich Gang’s “Lifestyle” and T.I.’s “About the Money.”

“I’m excited about that ’cause I know what I could bring out [of] him,” said the Cash Money boss. “With the platform I have, he could be bigger than he was before.”

Despite the breakup, DK’s fans are still showing their support by making the album No. 1 on iTunes R&B chart.

Ariana Grande

Ariana Grande invited cameras on set of the dark and mysterious video for her seductive single “Love Me Harder” featuring The Weeknd. The pop diva and Canadian crooner took over an L.A. soundstage while shooting scenes with director Hannah Lux Davis. With J.Lo’s ex-boyfriend Beau “Casper” Smart serving as choreographer, Ariana rolled around in a sandbox, floated in a cloud, and laid down in a pool of water.

“I’m laying down in every music video ever,” she joked.

The Weeknd joined her for a performance scene in a dark stairwell, and her brother Frankie Grande provided some laughs between takes.

“Our visuals are really about this tug of war of loving harder and the compromise of giving in and needing more and wanting more, and just honesty,” explained Hannah Lux Davis, who directed the “Bang Bang” video.

“Love Me Harder” is the third single off Ariana’s sophomore album My Everything, which debuted at No. 1.

New Music: Theophilus London f/ Kanye West – ‘Can’t Stop’

Kanye West and Theophilus London

When he’s not working on his own album, Kanye West has been overseeing projects for Tyga, French Montana, and Theophilus London. Yeezus serves as executive producer of the latter’s new album Vibes and guests on the blissful “Can’t Stop.” He delivers a glorious verse over the soulful production, which is reminiscent of his Dark Twisted days.

“It’s alright, but it ain’t Ralph though / And unless your money talkin’, keep your mouth closed,” raps ‘Ye. “We smokin’ indo outdoor in Palo Alto / If this party ain’t got hoes, my intro’s my outro.”

“The goal was to get back to a happy place in my life,” London told The FADER of Vibes. “I went through some dark times. On this album, I was chasing demons and sacrificing a lot. I’m just excited that I could make a piece of work that I’m happy about, that my great aunt was spiritually here for me to help me finish writing this album.”

In addition to getting the Yeezus co-sign, London has tapped fashion legend Karl Lagerfeld to shoot the artwork for the album, which drops November 4.

Birdman to Tyga: ‘Either You’re In or You’re Out’

Birdman

Tyga has ruffled feathers with his controversial comments about Young Money and Drake. Now YMCMB boss Birdman is speaking out on the rift in the camp.

During an interview with Funkmaster Flex on Hot 97, Birdman admitted that Tyga’s tweets caught him off guard. “I didn’t see that coming. And I still I haven’t got to the bottom of none of that,” he said.

In a recent interview with VIBE, Tyga said he wants to go independent and doesn’t get along with his labelmates Nicki Minaj and Drake. “I don’t like Drake as a person. He’s just fake to me,” he said.

While speaking to Flex, Birdman defended the Canadian rapper. “Drake is Drake. There’s really no comparison. He in a lane all by himself when it comes to making music. You can’t compare nobody to what he do ’cause nobody does what he does,” he said.

While he respects Tyga, he put him in check. “Tyga know where he stands in this game compared to Drake. That ain’t no secret. Numbers don’t lie. He might be in his feelings, and I got all the love and respect for Tyga. That’s been like my little bro.”

He’s leaving it up to Tyga to decide whether he wants in or out. But one thing he’s not interested in is beef.

“I’m family orientated. Either you’re in or you’re out. If you’re out, you’re an outcast to me. If you’re in, we family. To me, it ain’t no on or off switch. Either you with us or you ain’t. You gotta choose your side, but I got nothing but respect for Tyga.”

Despite releasing his Kanye West-produced single “40 Mill” independently, Birdman says that Tyga remains signed to Young Money. “I always had a manly respect with him ’cause he showed me him a little man. He went and did what he had to do and we built what we built together.”

But he doesn’t condone his comments about Drake. “I’m not with the dissing. I ain’t with none of that shit. We one gang. Ain’t no separating that. Either you’re with it or you ain’t. You gotta just choose your side.”

Kanye West Turns Down $4.5 Million Las Vegas Gig

Kanye West

Money can’t buy Kanye West. The hip-hop superstar reportedly turned down a $4.5 million payday for nine days of work.

According to TMZ, Yeezy received an offer to perform three concerts a week for three weeks at the Axis at Planet Hollywood at a whopping $500,000 per show.

At that rate, he would have become the highest-paid entertainer on the Las Vegas strip, making more per show than Britney Spears, who earns $475,000 for her “Piece of Me” residency, and Celine Dion, who currently earns the most at $476,000.

Jennifer Lopez is also in talks to join her fellow divas in Sin City. She was reportedly offered $350,000 per show to perform 72 shows at Planet Hollywood over a one- or two-year period.

But ‘Ye doesn’t seem to have any regrets. He and Kim Kardashian were all smiles as they posed with Barry Bonds at Game 5 of the 2014 World Series at AT&T Park in San Francisco, the same stadium where Kanye proposed to his now-wife a year ago.

“#DateNight #WorldSeries #IHaventBeenBackHereSinceISaidYes,” said Kim.
